“When you are kind to others,
it not only changes you, but it also changes the world”
(Harold Kushner)
Dear Colleagues in Kindness,
From 3rd to 5th October 2019, the 10th General Assembly of the World Kindness Movement was held in Lugano, Switzerland. It was an epoch event, which drew participants from different parts of the World, congregating to share exceptional ideas.
The brainstorming session and Kindness Workshop anchored by Mr. George Helou and Ms. Nirmala Mehendale, were the highpoints in the series of papers delivered, as it prepared our minds to the task ahead, which pointed to the fact that being generous can change the world. The final conclusion was WKM members could focus among others on SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing and SDG 17: Partnerships for Goals.
During the October gathering, the following members were elected into the International Council to pilot the affairs of the World Kindness Movement for the next two years; the International Council Members are as follows: Ms. Cristina Milani (President- Switzerland); Mr. Stephen Oke (Secretary-Nigeria), Ms. Nirmala Mehendale (Treasurer-India), Mr. George Helou (Member- Australia), Mr. Mohammad Bin Kamarulazizi (Member-Malaysia).
World Kindness Day is here again, it is to highlight our good deeds in our communities, cities, and nations; it is for us to further focus on the positive power and common thread of kindness, which binds us together. As we all know, kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divided races, religion, politics, gender, etc.
Therefore, nothing is as rewarding as giving back to others. The theme is on EMPATHY, feeling the pains of others and touching lives positively.
Dare to make kindness your modus operandi and change the world.
Stephen Oke Secretary-General
